The University of Applied Sciences in Elbląg cooperates with numerous institutions in Poland as well as abroad. It actively participates in the social, cultural and economic development of the city and the whole region both through participation in the locally desired projects and through adjusting its study programmes to the needs of the local labour market.
The University has established numerous contacts to ensure students' internships, practices and exchanges and is taking part in a number of educational programmes relevant to the students' needs as well as the needs of the local educational institutions and businesses. In order to enable an easier access to Bologna system second cycle studies, our school has signed agreements with higher education institutions such as Gdańsk University, Gdańsk University of Technology and The University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. Thanks to cooperation with various institutions, the students and lecturers can benefit in a number of ways, e.g. use laboratories for research or co-organize scientific conferences and seminars.
The University authorities are well aware of the importance of international contacts and cooperation for improvement of curricula, for scientific projects and for joint research programmes. Despite its short history, the University has established international relations with a large number of educational institutions abroad. It needs to be emphasised that the University's international cooperation is, to a large extent, based on contacts initiated earlier by the city authorities, which attests to the University's close relationship with its social, economic and cultural environment.
Erasmus+
The University of Applied Sciences in Elbląg has been granted ERASMUS Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020, which entitles students and staff members to apply for foreign internships (students) or study visits, lecturing or conducting research (staff members). Consequently, for many years now, students and lecturers have been studying, lecturing or doing research at partner universities.
Foreign internships, lasting from 2 to 12 months, are available to students of all faculties who have a good study record and have a good command of a foreign language. While studying at a partner university, our students receive a scholarship, do not pay for studies abroad and participate in a free-of-charge language course. Each student may rely on the University’s help when looking for an internship institution. Students receive funds from the Erasmus programme and are frequently granted additional funds from their employers.
Trips abroad are a perfect opportunity for broadening knowledge, obtaining qualifications or gaining experience. Developing language skills, meeting new people and learning about different cultures are other obvious advantages.
The experience which students gain during foreign internships is frequently the basis for their scientific research or writing the diploma dissertation, not to mention the fact that the graduates who have participated in foreign internships are better perceived by their potential employers. The lecturers' visits to the foreign partner institutions, in turn, positively affect both their own development and the quality of the courses which they conduct.
